My Best Adventures Yet

Screen Shot 2015-12-08 at 3.02.31 PM

This world is full of so many amazing things. Ā Here are some highlights from my travels so far…

I have visited 5 continents, 35 Countries, 49 US states, and 3 Canadian provinces.

Viewing the Northern Lights

Ā I was so blessed to see theĀ Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, which is what drew me to Iceland in the first place. It is awe-inspiring to see lights moving around in the night sky. You can read more about my trip to Iceland here.

Ā Visiting Iceland’s Glacial Lagoon

Jokulsarlon, a glacial river lagoon in Iceland, is unbelievably beautiful. Ā It was farther than most tourists travel, but so worth the drive. You can take a boat ride on the lake to get close to the calving glaciers, which make a thunderous noise as they fall off the large glacier. The icebergs then travel down a stream, where they enter the ocean. Ā Seeing the icebergs traveling through the waves was a highlight of my trip.

Snowmobiling on a Glacier in Iceland

Ā I was so happy we decided to snowmobile on Longjokull glacier in Iceland. Ā  We traveled through areas of complete whiteouts emerging through to have a breathtaking view of Iceland’s ocean and coastline. Take a look at this part of our trip.

Watching the Monarch Butterfly Migration in Santa Barbara

When I lived in Santa Barbara, CA, I went to the eucalyptus groves in Goleta to see the migrating Monarch Butterflies and have since returned to see this amazing phenomenon. When you are still, the butterflies light on the eucalyptus trees, appearing to be leaves. When movement or sound disturbs them, the trees appear to turn into countless butterflies- stunning.Ā

Stumbling upon the Bioluminescent Tides in Santa Barbara

I went to a drum circle on the main beach in Santa Barbara, CA. We walked along the beach out of view but were still able to hear the drums, and to our delight, the water was bioluminescent. Ā Our footprints turned bright blue, as did the waves as they crested- magical.

Traveling through Austria with my Dad

On a trip through Europe with my father, we arrived at St. Peter’s Abbey in Salzburg, Austria. This is the church in the Sound of Music where the family is hiding in the graveyard in their escape. We arrived later in the evening and were fortunate enough to be alone in the church as the unseen priests were singing their vespers.Ā

Seeing the Grand Canyon, USA

Ā Everyone should see the Grand Canyon in AZ, US. Ā It is so much more everything in real life than in any picture you have seen of it- Read about my March visit to the Grand Canyon. I really want to return to it and explore its insides.

Hiking in Utah

As an avid hiker, I lovedĀ Bryce Canyon and ZionĀ national parks. There is such beauty in nature in this part of the US with the spiky red rocks and canyons.

Hanging out in NOLA

I adore everything food in New Orleans, LA, and have enjoyed every time I have visited. It is one of the few US cities that I keep returning to. Read about my recent visit and road trip around Louisiana.

Marveling at the California Redwoods

The sheer size of the redwoods in California is breathtaking.

Caving in Slovenia

Ā I’m a little obsessed with caves and particularly enjoyed my visit to the caves in Postojna, Slovenia. Ā The sheer size of the caves, stalactites, and stalagmites were fabulous, and the country was the friendliest I had visited in Europe.

Staying in Overwater Bungalows in Moorea

Ā For my honeymoon, we stayed in the huts over the water in Moorea, French Polynesia. We fed fish through the coffee table in our room andĀ snorkeledĀ right off our porch.

SCUBA Diving

One of my most peaceful places on earth is 30-plus feet under warm water with a SCUBA tank strapped to my back. Ā One of my favorite memories of this is any of Cozumel, Mexico’s wall dives. Ā The water is clear, the marine life abundant, and looking over a wall into the deep abyss is a feeling not to be missed.

Swimming with these Amazing creatures in Akumal, Mexico

Akumal, a small town just south of Playa del Carmen, has a beach where I brought my own snorkeling equipment, jumped in the water and swam among numerous sea turtles. Ā In Cancun, you can hook up with some hotels, like The Royal Caribbean, that are part of conservation efforts, to see sea turtle hatchlings put back into the sea after hatching in a protected area by the light of a full moon. Ā They are amazingly peaceful and beautiful animals. Ā I also love diving in cenotes (freshwater swimming holes) in this area.

Taking a Turkish Bath

Ā I am a big spa girl. While in Kusadasi, Turkey my husband and I had a Turkish bath. Ā It was not the most peaceful experience, maybe even a little painful, but it was a once in a lifetime experience. Ā It occurred in a beautiful old bathhouse, a huge tiled room with skylights and the exfoliation/massage was done by a huge Turkish man in loincloth, kind of beating my husband up to get me to laugh. It was one of my most surreal life experiences. Read about other unique spa experiences around the world.

Getting Up Close and Personal to a Volcano in Costa Rico

While in Costa Rica, we stopped into Tabacon’s geothermal spa and got into its natural hot tubs which are heated by the Arenal Volcano, which periodically erupts shaking the water, which makes you really appreciate the volcano’s power.

Disneyland Fireworks

I love Disneyland and have such great memories of the fireworks having spent my whole life going there.
