When I read a book , I love to hear a good story. This book is about an unexpected friendship between a teenage foster child and a 91 year-old woman. Through their relationship we hear two great stories and realize that we often are bonded to people by our stories even when that isn’t apparent on the outside. Baker Kline did a great job travelling through time with both stories without leaving the reader confused. Another thing I love in a good book is to learn something I did not know about the world. One of the stories in the book is about how children were taken from big eastern cities into the middle of our country to be adopted out. It was an interesting part of our country’s history that I did not know about at all. Her characters were sharply written and I left the book caring about all of them, even minor characters. I would give this book a four out of five stars.
