Taking The Ride in New York City

The Ride NYC. thedailyadventuresofme.com
The Ride shared that New York is the whole world in one place. Love that!

My 11-year-old son and I went to New York City to attend Kid’s Day at the US Open. We had a chance to try The Ride NYC hosted. Our family loves tours when we first get to a city to get an idea of where we are. We have been to NYC many times (Read my guide), but had yet to get a Manhattan tour. I’m glad we went because it was one of his favorite parts of our weekend.

What is The Ride?

The Ride is an interactive bus with stadium seats and floor-to-ceiling windows. It is a different way to take an introductory city tour for sure! It is also comfortable and air-conditioned. Unlike the streets of New York in summer!

One of our two hosts regaling us with facts, stories and jokes about New York City on The Ride NYC.

The bus tells you interesting things about the city and so do the two tour guides, who happen to be award-winning comics. The Ride is punctuated by jokes, trivia, group interaction, even some karaoke. But our favorite part is the surprising interactions of the city with the audience of the bus. How? You will have to take The Ride yourself to find out. Or check out this sneak peak from my Instagram.

Is it appropriate for everyone?

They don’t allow kids under 6-years of age, but older kids and adults of all ages were enjoying it. It can be a little loud at times, so it may not be appropriate for kids with sensory issues.

What is The Ride Holiday Edition?

A perfect way to escape the cold streets of New York City at Christmastime, but still take in the sights. It does not go by Rockefeller Center, but follows its normal course around Times Square, but you will see lots of holiday sights and the performers sing Christmas songs. Read here for more on what is to see around New York City at Christmastime.

What I want to try next

The buses also have two other New York City tours. The Downtown Experience is one I would really like to take my boys to. My son saw Virtual Reality glasses on the side of the bus advertising The Downtown Experience. I did a walking tour downtown a few years ago and was amazed at how that area made New York City the melting pot that it is. The Downtown Experience teaches that by touring the current area and experiencing history through the VR. That sounds like the perfect way to get my kids to learn some history and be excited about it.

So if you want to see the city and a show in one shot, give The RideNYC a try on your visit to New York City. Thanks again to The Ride for my complimentary tour, but as always, I never let that sway my opinions to my readers.

If you liked it, please share it. Thank you!
