The Best Places to See the Sunset in Rhode Island
Beavertail, Jamestown
Beavertail lies on the southern point of Jamestown. The rocky coastline and Beavertail Lighthouse enhance any photos. Read on for more information about Beavertail.Ā
East Beach, Watch Hill
This beach is hard to reach as there isn’t public parking, but it is one of the nicest in Rhode Island. You can also access the same view from the beach of the Ocean House Inn.
Jamestown Harbor, Jamestown
After watching a sunset onto the Newport Bridge in Jamestown Harbor, you can head up the road for dinner at the supercute treehouse in Simpatico.
Across the Street from Zeek’s Creek Bait and Tackle, Jamestown
On North Road in Jamestown, you can hit this spot after leaving Beavertail.
Rooftop Bar at the Vanderbilt Hotel, Newport
The one time I have been here the service was not very good, but you definitely can’t beat the view overlooking the Newport Bridge and the town.
Newport Harbor, Newport
Both a beautiful place to stroll and the perfect place to get sunset photos involving boats.
Bowen’s Wharf, Newport
This area is a perfect spot to stroll and enjoy the sunset.
Van Zandt Pier, Newport
This pier faces the Newport Bridge, so it provides a Rhode Island sunset view, including one of Rhode Island’s iconic landmarks.
Salter Memorial Grove Park, Warwick
This picture was taken from the shore of the park. If you continue onto the trail, this walk is on my list of best nature walks in Rhode Island.Ā Be sure to walk out onto the jetty for a different view.
Oakland Beach, Warwick
Grab some chowder and clam cakes at Iggy’s, then sit down and enjoy the sunset at this busy beach in Warwick. Read more about spending time at Oakland Beach.
Great Island, Narragansett

Walk along the Galilee Escape Road to get a picture of the sunset over Great Island in Narragansett.
North Kingstown Town Beach, North Kingstown
Although it faces east, rather than west, the colors off of North Kingstown Town Beach or from Wickford Village can be spectacular.
Where is your favorite spot to relax while watching Rhode Island’s sunsets?
If you time it right, you can end your Rhode Island hike, walk or bike with a great sunset view. Enjoying a sunset is definitely one of the essential Rhode Island experiences.
There are some amazing looking spots along the coastline of Rhode Island. Especially for an awesome sunset. I think the spot across the road from Zeek’s Creek Bait & Tackle would have to be my favourite.
That’s a lot of options on places to view sunset ! I love sunsets with orange purple hues ! I guess if I have to pick one favourite, it would be Beavertail, Jamestown ! The landscape is gorgeous !
The sunset pictures look so magical!
Weāve never been to Rhode Island but itās on our bucket list! Hopefully weāll get to travel to the US in the near future! so of all the spots you mention here, East Beach and Oakland Beach are the places weād like to go to to watch sunsets!
I live in RI and Oakland beach may be pretty to watch the sunset but I do not recommend going there to swim or enjoy a beach it in not very clean and youāre often not allowed to swim. But most other beaches are beautiful and fun!!
I agree. We go there to watch the sunset, walk on the shore and eat at Iggy’s.
I grew up in Oakland beach, very nice place. But not as picturesque as some of the other locations. Narragansett state beach is beautiful. Beavertail is awesome. Great place for pictures and The rocky area on the water is perfect for doing massive rock stacking.
Stunning captures! You can an ideal calendar with these pictures for 2021!
All of these photos are just incredible, but I think I like the tranquility of Bowen’s Wharf best. So peaceful and lovely!
