Sydney is known for many of its attractions. Besides the Opera House, beautiful beaches and ports, this city embraces various different cultures and does it best through cuisine. Australian cuisine is quite peculiar and interesting both to locals and tourists and there are plenty of places where you can explore it. Besides restaurants filled with traditional Australian meals and treats, there are other exotic restaurants and here some of the best places to take a bite in the beautiful Sydney.
Located in George Street, this restaurant has one of the key locations in the city, and is well known among fine diners. Together with chef Peter Doyle, Est. staff is determined to give us a feel of grandeur and luxury, and the interior plays a key role in this mission as well. The food can be described as contemporary Australian, and it’s seasonally driven, using only the freshest of products. It wouldn’t scream luxurious if it didn’t have a private dining option, which it does. Bare in mind this restaurant is very expensive, but worth every penny if you are into fine dining. You should definitely try the chef’s tasting menu.
Acme is not an ordinary Italian restaurant. It is challenging the traditional nonna-proof ideals and methods. The front of the restaurant is lined with large windows while on the inside it is surrounded with white-wash, rind-like walls. There are high-top round tables in the front, while at the back you have share tables; soft music and warm lighting create the perfect ambiance for a lunch. Their menu is rather small but exquisitely complex and they offer seven entrees, two salads and seven mains. Some of the popular items on the menu are NV Perlage Quorum Prosecco, rockmelon and prosciutto, beef tartare, mushroom and sheep’s curd lasagna, squid ink strozzapreti, and so on.
Whitewater restaurant is a contemporary Australian restaurant with an equally contemporary menu. It is perfect for Sydneysiders who are looking for some extra seaside experience. Here you can sit back and sip some of the best wines while the chic beach atmosphere surrounds you. If you wish to take a bite, you can choose from the exquisite menu and the sharp staff will be at your service all the time. What is more, this restaurant has a happy hour every day, where you can choose from variety of wines, cocktails and snacks at a low price while you are enjoying gorgeous water views.
Located in the hipster Surry Hills, Chur Burger offers some of the best burgers in the city. It is a small laneway burger bar, but because of the tasty burgers and excellent services it has become the most popular place among meat enthusiasts. Eating such burgers is a five-napkin job since a juicy beef patty with tomato relish, mayo, pickles, melted cheese and soft buns will make you lick your fingers. Besides burgers, you can order soda, cider or an ultra-vanilla vanilla milkshake and make the burger easily go down to your belly. Or have any of the great Aussie craft beers, that’s never a bad combo!
For some of you who just love spicy food, El Topo is the perfect place. It features some of the best meals from Mexican cuisine and it will certainly make your eyes and mouth water. Besides the delicious spicy foods, this restaurant is furbished completely to reflect the spirit of Mexico; tabletops are covered in hand-painted tiles of various colors, there is a shrine to Madonna and Dia de los Muertos and on the rooftop the chefs prepare the meals using guajillo chilies, avocado leaves, cactus and jicama fruit.
If you ever find your way to Sydney, don’t worry about being hungry. There are plenty of different places that offer variety of traditional and exotic foods and both your palate and stomach will be satisfied and surprised with all the tastes. We hope to see you in Sydney soon!
