There is a great fall fair on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, The Cranberry Harvest Festival. The fair highlights all things cranberry, including demonstrations of wet harvesting the cranberries. Did you know that cranberries are grown in blogs which at harvest time are flooded to float the cranberries up? While at the festival ten years ago, we were […]
I am a foodie. I have foodie in my blood. Although I was born in this country, my grandfather, Fortunado Italiane’s family came fromPallazo Adriano on Sicily. Italians can eat and they really appreciate their food. Family dinners have many courses and any food eaten in a restaurant was passed around so that one can try everything. My grandfather would talk at breakfast about what he was dreaming about eating for lunch, lunch at dinner and at dinner for his next day’s eating plans. I was exposed early to foods from many places.
I love to cook. My food is not always pretty, but is always tasty and generally easy to make. I’m the queen of the couple ingredient recipe that is always requested to be brought again to the party.
But mostly, I love to dine out. I love the variety of it and love finding and sharing great restaurants. My favorite foods involve butter, cheeses and chocolate, but I also love seafood, vegetables, a great filet mignon-there are really few foods I don’t like. I love a great glass of wine, but especially port wine!
There are wonderful things about growing up in California, but what it lacks is the real experience of the seasons. Now that I live in New England I go crazy for them, especially spring and fall I love the cool fall air, hiking, the colorful leaves and the tastes. If you follow me on Instagram, […]
Fort Adam proudly flying its flag on Veteran’s Day 2015. We had driven by Fort Adams many times on our way to Castle Hill Restaurant and had heard many times about its concerts and other fun events that it holds, but had never gotten to explore it. Veteran’s Day seemed like a perfect occasion, so we headed […]

If you’ve been to a Legal Seafood before this will shatter your expectations. View from Legal Seafood’s 2nd floor Everything was beautiful from the restaurant decor, […]

It ended up being a lovely Rhode Island day, but since rain was forecasted, we planned things for inside or out. First, we headed to the The Fantastic Umbrella Factory in South Kingstown. Contrary to the name, not an umbrella was seen, but it is a lovely place to spend a few hours with or without […]
Today’s adventure was taken with my kids, my friend and her four-and six- year olds. I think Block Island is one of the prettiest locations in RI. It’s small enough and close enough to be convenient. The water is crystal clear and beaches and bluffs are beautiful. We took the Hi-speed ferry from Galilee. There […]
Excited to start our day exploring all Foxwoods Casino has to offer and see if we can win big at Blackjack! I was fortunate enough to be included in a media event put on by Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut which treated us to Oktoberfest themed events and enabling us to explore the casino and […]
I visit Los Andes Restaurant in Providence when I am in the mood for a unique Rhode Island meal. The menu is full of Peruvian and Bolivian foods. They serve mainly seafood, rice, potatoes and meat with interesting spicy sauces. The Bloody Mary is special- spicy and different with lime, not lemon and an amazing […]
